Abdominoplasty Houston

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess fat and skin from mid to lower abdomen. This is also combined with tightening of the abdominal muscle. This combination of procedures will flatten the abdomen dramatically reducing the appearance of a protruding abdomen.

This body enhancement procedure is designed for those who wish to have a flatter and tighter stomach.  It is also helpful in remedying the vertical separation of abdomen muscles known as diastasis, which can occur following pregnancy.

Depending on the patient and the amount of excess skin and fat deposit, the surgery may last anywhere from one to four (1-4) hours. The procedure is done under general anesthesia. Depending on the extent of the original problem,  the incision may extend  horizontally across the lower abdomen from hip to hip.

The patient is given an abdominal binder following surgery. If liposuction was done at the same time, you will need to wear a garment for three to four (3-4) weeks. Drains will be placed to avoid fluid collection that might cause future problems. The drains will be in place for 3 days to 2 weeks depeding on the amount of drainage. With time, as the body recovers,  the patient can expect some swelling, pain, and discomfort.  Medication can be prescribed to relieve any pain caused by the procedure.  The stitches will be absorbable and will not required removal.  Normal activities can generally be resumed within 2 weeks.  The scar will mature in approximately one year.
