What causes the breasts to become huge and how can breast reduction help?

The breasts become overly large for different reasons, and when they become too big, they look aesthetically unpleasant. Huge breasts have also been linked with physical pain such as neck, shoulder, and back pain. Many patients seek treatment options to get rid of their huge breasts and the associated symptoms.

The first and primary cause of the development of huge breasts is genetics. Many women are genetically exposed to developing huge breasts. For example, if your mother or grandmother had huge breasts, you are more likely to get huge breasts as well. However, there is no specific time when your breasts will become huge. They can become huge at any time, but most women get huge breasts during puberty and teenage years.

The second major cause of overly large breasts is considerable weight gain. The breast is mostly made of fat besides glandular tissue and muscles. When you gain weight, the fat cells present in your breasts expand and give birth to new fat cells. When the weight gain is severe and prolonged, it can trigger a chain reaction of fat generation in the breasts. As a result, the breasts become huge.

Certain medications can also lead to the development of huge breasts. If you are taking hormones or steroids, you may develop huge breasts because such medications create hormonal changes in your body. Some women get huge breasts during pregnancy. It also happens due to the pregnancy-induced hormonal changes in your body. Hormonal changes and imbalances can also be triggered by other factors, hence causing your breasts to become overly large. So, what do you do to get rid of huge breasts?

The most effective and popular treatment for overly large breasts is breast reduction surgery. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and is highly invasive. A board-certified anesthesiologist will administer the anesthesia, and the plastic surgeon will start the surgery by making incisions on the breasts. The length of the incisions depends on how large your breasts are and to what extent you want to reduce their size.

After making the incision, the plastic surgeon will access the glandular tissue through the incisions. The doctor will then remove the excess glandular tissue from the breasts. The doctor will also remove the excess fat from the breasts. Furthermore, the excess skin resulting from the removal of the fat and glandular tissue will be excised. The remaining skin is then re-draped and the incisions are sutured and closed.

You will notice improvements in your breasts right after the surgery; however, complete results will transpire over the next few weeks and months. The final results will emerge when the swelling fully subsides. You will notice that your breasts have become smaller or suitably sized and the pain and discomfort associated with huge breasts have drastically reduced or disappeared.
