It is a normal thing for women to have asymmetric breasts. This means that one breast is bigger than the other. This is more visible after a woman has undergone pregnancy or any traumatic event that has caused the breasts to change in size, volume, and shape. For those women who are not pleased with this imperfection, keep in mind that there are plastic surgery interventions that can be used to improve the appearance of asymmetric breasts.
You are recommended to seek surgical intervention if the differences in the size and volume of your breasts are highly noticeable, if breast ptosis is severe, if one of the breasts might be sagging more than the other, or if the nipple and areola complex is considerably asymmetrical in shape, size and position. However, you have to be aware that not all asymmetries can be corrected with the help of plastic surgery. The asymmetries that can be corrected with plastic surgery are volume asymmetries and asymmetries of the dimensions of the areolas.
For volume asymmetries, it can be corrected through a breast reduction surgery wherein the larger breast is reduced to a size closer to the other breast considered to have the more optimal size and shape; or by inserting an implant in the smaller breast to bring it up to the size of the other breast. It is suggested that if you have smaller breasts, you can have implants of different volumes that will be placed in both breasts. If you have asymmetries in the dimensions of the areolas, know that it can be easily corrected during a breast lift, augmentation or reduction procedure. Many patients are aware that their breasts will never be completely symmetrical so it is quite natural for them to wonder how beneficent a surgical procedure can be.
