Having asymmetric breasts is absolutely normal for women. It is rare to have breasts of the same size. Some patients are unaware of this case. There are also women who know this but still, they are bothered by this natural flaw. This is because there is a case where the difference between the two breasts is extremely visible, meaning one breast is visibly larger than the other breast. This asymmetry is caused by the lack of chest muscles on one side of the breast. On the other hand, there are also instances where one or both breasts have nipple areolas at different heights or different positions such as veering to the sides or too in the middle.
Aside from the mentioned asymmetries above, there is a possibility that at the inframammary fold, there is one breast positioned higher and one lower. In the case of very small breasts, the inframammary fold might be nonexistent, and the plastic surgeon will have to create it during the breast augmentation surgery. Keep in mind that not all breast asymmetries can be corrected with the help of plastic surgery. This means that it is vital to have a physical examination prior to surgery so that the surgeon will be able to determine which procedure should be used to correct the asymmetry of the breasts.
Silicone implants with different volumes can be used to rebalance the breasts of different sizes. Take note that the difference in volume between the two breasts will be difficult to conceal. If implants of the same volume will be introduced on breasts that are already monumentally asymmetric, then the unaesthetic asymmetry will simply be all the more visible. Combining breast implants of different volumes is recommended. Conversely, if the asymmetry is in the size and shape of the nipples, it can be easily corrected with a periareolar incision.
